About Us

Restaurateur Carlo Gaione and Chef Antonio Capece attended hotel school in their native country of Italy, where they also began their restaurant careers. Gaione and Capece moved to Washington, D.C. in 1981, and worked in some of the capital city’s finest restaurants, such as Galileo and Tiberio.

In 1991, Gaione and Capece opened Amici in Richmond, Virginia, where they feature Northern Italian cuisine. This four-star restaurant has garnered coverage in Bon Apetit and Southern Living magazines, as well as the travel section of the New York Times. Amici Ristorante is consistently rated as one of the best in Richmond by both Style Weekly and Richmond Magazine.

Our mission is to serve the Best Northern Italian Cuisine out side of Italy, using the freshest seafood, meats, produce along with a no-fuss friendly atmosphere.

We support our local farmers such as Polyface Farm, Manakintowne Farm, Cabbage Hill Farm, Hanover Farm etc.

We have been members of the Carytown Merchants Association since 1991, We are happy to be part of such great group of merchant that strive every day to make our unique shopping district one of the top in the country.
